During 17 - 20 May, 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dili welcomed the delegation from the Department of Medical Sciences (DMSc), led by Dr. Phichet Banyati, Deputy Director-General, on the occasion of their visit to Timor-Leste. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation on laboratory system between the DMSc and the National Institute of Public Health of Timor-Leste (Instituto Nacional de Saúde Pública de Timor-Leste - INSP-TL) under the Asia-Pacific Regional Public Health Laboratory (RPHL) Network.

Both sides engaged in high-level policy discussions regarding technical support across various areas, namely Quality Management Systems (QMS), External Quality Assessment (EQA), and biosafety and biorisk management. Furthermore, they also reviewed the progress of their cooperation under the mutual Technical Assistance framework and discussed future directions for collaboration to ensure alignment with Timor-Leste's National Laboratory Strategic Plan.
