Non-Immigrant Visa

 

Visa applicants are required to complete all requirements of each type of Non-Immigrant visas as follows:

1. “ED”

Purposes:

- To study in a basic education level (primary, elementary, and secondary school)

- To study in a higher education level (university and college)

- For internship (Curricular internship), attending workshop training or seminar organized by International Organization

- For Buddhism studies (Monk) or performing Buddhism ritual activities

- For foreigner wishes to perform Buddhism ritual activities

- For Foreigners seeking to promote or involve in a religious mission with an approval from Thai concerned authority

Requirements:

To study in a basic education level (primary, elementary, and secondary school)

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  4. Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer
  5. School’s registration certificate
  6. Approval letter from concerned authority under the Ministry of Education
  7. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

To study in a higher education level (university and college)

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  3. Letter confirming enrolment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer
  4. University’s registration certificate
  5. Academic certificate from previous education level
  6. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Internship (Curricular internship), Attending workshop training or seminar organized by International Organization

  1. Completed visa application form Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  3. Letter confirming the internship/participation in a programme from the company/international organization
  4. Letter confirming the curricular internship from the visa applicant’s university/educational institute
  5. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Buddhism studies (Monk) or performing Buddhism ritual activities

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  4. Approval letter from National office of Buddhism
  5. Confirmation letter from the host temple
  6. Academic certificate from previous level
  7. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Foreigner wishes to perform Buddhism ritual activities

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  4. Travel booking confirmation
  5. Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party
  6. Confirmation letter from the host temple
  7. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Foreigners seeking to promote or involve in a religious mission with an approval from Thai concerned authority

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  4. Approval letter from Thai concerned authority
  5. Confirmation letter from the host religious organization
  6. Religious organization’s registration certificate
  7. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Visa fees:

- 80 USD for single entry visa

- 200 USD for multiple entry visa

Validity of a visa:

- Single-entry visa is valid for three months

- Multiple entry visa is valid for one year

 Period of stay:

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

 Extension of stay:

Those qualified persons can obtain an additional one year stay permit counting from the date of entry in the Kingdom pertaining to the Office of the Immigration Bureau's regulations on extension of stay. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer. Applicants wishing to stay in the Kingdom longer than 90 days have to file their application at the Office of Immigration Bureau in Bangkok located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or website at http://www.immigration.go.th).

 

2. “F”

Purposes:

Ordinary passport holder, whose purpose of visit as followings can apply for the Non-Immigrant F Visa:

- To work with the government, diplomatic mission or an international organisation in Thailand (immediate family included).

- To attend a meeting with Thai agency or to participate an event organized by Thai government.

- Family or dependent of diplomatic officers/officials based in Thailand.

Requirements:

- Completed visa application form

- Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.

- Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.

- Invitation letter from relevant governmental agency, Thai authority, embassy, consulate-general, or international organization certified the purpose of visit.

- A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Visa fees:

- 80 USD for single entry visa

- 200 USD for multiple entry visa

Validity of a visa:

- Single-entry visa is valid for three months

- Multiple entry visa is valid for one year

Period of stay:

3. "O"

Family of a Thai national (Immediate family includes spouse and children)

Ordinary passport holder wishing to stay with a family who is a Thai national in the following circumstances can apply for the Non-Immigrant type O Visa:

  1. Spouse of a Thai national
  2. Children of a Thai national (age must be under 20 years old unless they are unable to support themselves due to mental or physical condition)
  3. Legally adopted child of a Thai national (age must be under 20 years old unless they are unable to support themselves due to a mental or physical condition)
  4. Parent of a Thai national

- Applicant has no age restriction in case that the child is under 20 years old.

- Applicant must be over 50 years old in case that the child is over 20 years old.

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Financial evidence (bank statement showing monthly income of more than 1,400 USD annually, or deposit of more than 1,400 USD.)
  5. Travel Booking confirmation
  6. Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand

Spouse of a Thai national

- Marriage certificate

- A copy of a ID card of a Thai spouse

Children of a Thai national / legally adopted child of a Thai national

- Birth Certificate / Certificate of adoption

- A copy of a ID card of a Thai parent

Parent of a Thai national

  • Birth Certificate / Certificate of adoption
  • A copy of a ID card of a Thai children
  • Details of accommodation in Thailand

Voluntary work with NGO/Charity/Association (Without salary)

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Letter confirming voluntary work signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the sign
  5. Registration of NGO/Charity/Association
  6. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Visiting or staying with applicant's family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days)

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party)
  5. Personal details of a family in Thailand, e.g. ID card, Passport and the visa page or stay permit in Thailand
  6. Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand, e.g. A copy of marriage certificate / birth certificate / certificate of adoption
  7. Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand
  8. Travel booking confirmation

To be a contestant or a witness for the judicial process

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Documents showing the participation in the judicial process
  5. Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party)
  6. Travel booking confirmation

Medical treatment (longer than 60 days)

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Letter of appointment from hospital/medical center
  5. Copy of hospital/medical center registration certificate
  6. Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party)
  7. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Diplomat's housekeeper

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Note verbal requesting for the visa or letter confirming the employment details
  5. Registration of NGO/Charity/Association
  6. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Visiting or staying with applicant's family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days)

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party)
  5. Personal details of a family in Thailand, e.g. ID card, Passport and the visa page or stay permit in Thailand

  8. Travel booking confirmation

Thai National Who have abandoned its Thai citizenship

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Proof of having Thai citizenship
  5. Travel booking confirmation

Visa fees:

- 80 USD for single entry visa

- 200 USD for multiple entry visa

Validity of a visa:

- Single-entry visa is valid for three months

- Multiple entry visa is valid for one year

Period of stay:

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

Extension of stay:

Those who wish to stay longer must file an application for an extension at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or website at http://www.immigration.go.th). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

 

4. "B"

Ordinary passport holder who wishes to enter the Kingdom for conducting business or working is subjected to be granted a Non-Immigrant B Visa.

Travelling on a business purpose

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The validity of 18 months is required for one year visa application.
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  4. Letter from a company stating the objective of the visit to Thailand or Document showing correspondence with trading partners in Thailand. (eg. Letter confirming employment details, business registration or business license of a partner company in Thailand)
  5. Letter of invitation from a trading company in Thailand
  6. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Employment/ Working in Thailand

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The validity of 18 months is required for one-year visa application.
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  4. To obtain an Employment Visa, letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour is requested. (To obtain this letter, the prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province.   5. Employment contract indicating rationale for employing the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications. (Document must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed the seal of the company)
  6. Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour. (Only in case the applicant has previously worked in the Kingdom)
  7. Copy of educational records of the applicant and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying job description and length of service time.
  8. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

* Please note that copy of corporate documents may be requested as deemed appropriated; namely 1) list of shareholders 2) business registration and business license 3) company profile 4) details of business operation 5) list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions 6) map indicating the location of the company 7) Balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (PorNgorDor 50 and PorNgorDor 30) of the latest year 8) Alien income tax return (PorNgorDor 91) and 9) Value-added tax registration (PorNgorDor 20).

For Internship (Non-Curricular internship)

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  4. Business registration and business license of the hiring company in Thailand
  5. Letter confirming the internship/participation from the company
  6. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

* The document to be submitted for the visa application is contingent upon necessities and appropriateness of purposes stated in the application form. Copies of company documents must be signed by Board of Directors and affixed the seal of the company. In the absence of a required document, a letter explaining the unavailability of such document must be provided.

The applicant must sign on each page of the copy. In addition, Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai. If translated into English, it should be notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic/ consular mission.

5. "IB"

Ordinary passport holder whose purpose of visit is to invest in a BOI-registered company or work in a BOI-registered company can apply for the Non-Immigrant type IB Visa.

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Letter confirming employment details from an employer
  5. Letter from BOI
  6. A copy of reservation/confirmation of air ticket to Thailand

Visa fees:

- 80 USD for single entry visa

- 200 USD for multiple entry visa

Validity of a visa:

- Single-entry visa is valid for three months

- Multiple entry visa is valid for one year

6. "M"

Purposes:

- To work as a film-producer in Thailand

- To work as journalist or reporter in Thailand

 To work as long-term journalist or reporter

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months and at least 2 blank visa pages, as well as a copy of passport
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Letter of approval from Department of Informations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand

To work as part of film production film

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months and at least 2 blank visa pages, as well as a copy of passport
  3. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months
  4. Letter of approval from the Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sports

7. "O-A"

Purpose:

Foreigner age of 50 and over (foreigner must have a permanent residence in a country in which the application is submitted) to stay in Thailand

Requirements:

  1. Completed visa application form
  2. Original passport with validity more than 18 month and at least 2 blank visa pages
  3. Three (3) sets photocopy of passport
  4. Three (3) sets of Proof of permanent residence in Timor-Leste
  5. Three (3) sets of application forms
  6. Three (3) photos (4x6 cm white/ blue background and taken within the past 6 months).
  7. Three (3) sets of an additional application form for O-A
  8. Three (3) sets of Bank statement or evidence of adequate finance showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht (approximately 27,000 USD) or an income certificate with monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht, (approximately 2,100 USD/ month) or a deposit account plus a monthly income multiply by 12 totaling not less than 800,000 Baht (approximately 27,000 USD). If you send a copy of bank statement, the original reference letter from the banking concerned is necessary.
  9. Three (3) sets of certificates of criminal record clearance from own country and Timor-Leste with validity of at least 3 months.
  10. Three (3) sets of medical record proving applicant has never been infected with contagious disease (Leprosy, tuberculosis, elephantiasis, drug addiction and third phase of syphilis) with validity at least 3 months (in accordance with Immigration Act B.E. 2522) 
  11. The guideline on the amendment to additional criteria for purchasing health insurance of non-Thai nationals applying for non-immigrant "O-A" visa (1 year) can be downloaded below.

8. “O-X”

Purposes:

- Ordinary passport holder with a nationality of Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States of America, with the age of 50 years old and over who wish to stay in Thailand (as well as spouse and child (age under 20 years old)

Requirements:

    1. Passport with validity not less than 6 months

    2. Three (3) application forms and 3 photographs (size 4 X 6 cm. taken within the last 6 months)

    3. One (1) biography

    4. Financial evidence

    4.1 Certificate of bank deposit stating bank contact information, copy of bank book and bank statement which shows fixed deposit with the amount of not less than 3 million Baht deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand, or

    4.2 Certificate of bank deposit stating bank contact information, copy of bank book and bank statement which shows fixed deposit with the amount of not less than 1.8 million Baht deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand and certificate of annual income with the amount of not less than 1.2 million Baht (local currency equivalent) per year. (Once the applicants enter Thailand, they must have accumulated money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand not less than 3 million Baht within 1 year.)

 5. Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality. In case the applicants have permanent residence in other country, they must provide the aforementioned document from both country of nationality and country of permanent residence.

 6. Medical certificate from the country where the applicants apply visa stating that applicants don’t have any prohibited diseases as follows; Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Elephantiasis, drug addiction, third stage of Syphilis. The medical certificate must be issued no longer than 3 months prior to the date of submission.

 7. Copy of evidence stating that applicants have insurance as per stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and health insurance of Thailand which has insurance money for outpatient not less than 40,000 Baht and for inpatient not less than 400,000 Baht.

5 year

Period of Stay:

5 year

Extension of Stay:

Can be extended for another 5 years after the first 5 years

Benefits / Conditions:

  • Can work as a volunteer (in accordance with the list of volunteer work as stipulated by the Department of Employment).
  • Can purchase vehicle (under the provision of laws on motor vehicles).
  • Can purchase condominium (proceed in accordance with the Condominium Act).
