On 11 April 2024, H.E. Mr. Atipat Rojanapaibulya, Ambassador of Thailand to Timor-Leste, paid a courtesy call on H.E Mr. Francisco Kalbuady Lay, Vice-Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs, and Minister of Tourism and Environment of Timor-Leste, on the occasion of his assumption of duty.

Both sides discussed opportunities for furthering bilateral cooperation. The Vice-Prime Minister thanked Thailand for supporting Timor-Leste's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the implementation of the roadmap towards Timor-Leste’s full membership of ASEAN in 2025. Timor-Leste has much to learn and benefit from Thailand's experiences and excellence in the tourism industry as well as its best practices in environmental conservation, plastic waste management, and the green economy. The Vice-Prime Minister would like to invite Thai experts to Timor-Leste to share their knowledge and experiences in hospitality to strengthen Timor-Leste’s tourism and service sectors.  Additionally, both sides expressed mutual interest in promoting people-to-people relations through cultural and sports exchanges.
