During 1-2 June 2024, H.E. Mr. Atipat Rojanapaibulya, Ambassador of Thailand to Timor-Leste, led the Embassy officials and members of the Thai community in Timor-Leste along with their families to visit Atauro Island to conduct activities in celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024.  The activities included promoting the sufficiency economy philosophy at Centro Obikai, supporting a local women's group in making traditional fabric dolls and demonstrating Thai cooking using local ingredients at Boneca de Atauro.

At Centro Obikai, the Ambassador presented agricultural materials, equipment, and vegetable seeds to Mr. Cesar Brandao, manager, and observed how the sufficiency economy philosophy was being applied for  sufficient production for consumption and sale.  A Mahoni tree was also planted at Centro Obikai as a commemorative gesture.  The Ambassador then led the delegation to Boneca de Atauro to deliver sewing materials and equipment for making traditional fabric dolls to Ms. Virginia Soares, manager, and to observe the activities of the women's group. The Thai community participated in purchasing products from the women's group and demonstrated Thai cooking using local ingredients, such as chicken turmeric soup and papaya salad, for those interested.
