On 23 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Atipat Rojanapaibulya, Ambassador of Thailand to Timor-Leste, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Mariano Assanami Sabino, Vice Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Rural Development and Community Housing, on the occasion of his assumption of duty.

The Ambassador highlighted Thailand’s cooperation projects in Timor-Leste in the fields of public health and agriculture as well as a new initiative to take stakeholders in the Timorese coffee industry on a study visit to Thailand in November 2024. The Deputy Prime Minister praised Thailand’s sustainable development approaches, particularly in agriculture, which covers the entire value chain. Both sides also exchanged views on social and development challenges considered priorities for the Timor-Leste’s government, including upgrading the national hospital, improving education quality, addressing malnutrition and stunting, job creation and youth empowerment, as well as the preparation towards ASEAN membership.
