On 19 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Atipat Rojanapaibulya, Ambassador of Thailand to Timor-Leste, hosted a dinner in honour of the Ministry of Defence's delegation led by Lieutenant General Canapole Bomerungmueng, Director-General, Defence Mobilisation Department, at his Residence. The delegation visited Timor-Leste to participate in the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Armed Forces for the National Liberation of Timor-Leste (FALINTIL) on 20 August 2025.

 

Lieutenant General Kanapol and Lieutenant General Nudanai Buranasomphob, Director-General of the Office of Defence Internal Audit, who is also a member of the delegation, previously served in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Timor-Leste in 2000. In the past, Thailand supported and took part in several peace-keeping operations in Timor-Leste (East Timor), namely International Force in East Timor (INTERFET), UN Mission in East Timor (UNAMET), UN Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) and UN Mission of Support in East Timor (UNMISET).
