On 21 October 2022, at 16.00 hours, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, as the Representative of His Majesty the King, presided over the Princess Srinagarindra Award 2022 at the Moonstarn Baromasna Hall, the Royal Palace. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn also presided over the royal tea party given in honour of the laureates at the Boromrajasathitmaholarn Hall after the Award Ceremony.

This year, the Princess Srinagarindra Award 2022 is awarded to Professor Dr. Nurith Wagner and Professor Dr. Miriam Judith Hirschfeld from the State of Israel for their contribution to human rights and ethics of nursing, midwifery, and cross-cultural understanding and respect with the hope of promoting peace and health.

Professor Dr. Nurith Wagner is a national and global leader in nursing ethics, disability, and human rights. She developed a simulation game of ethical decision-making games for teaching all hospitals in the State of Israel and collaborated in the formulation of various policies such as advocating for legal requirements for end-of-life care. In addition, Professor Dr. Wagner  established the Ethics Centre in the Israel Nurses Association and currently served as the president of the association which promotes efficiency in the care and protection of Israeli patients’ human rights, Palestinians, and their families with compassion.

Professor Dr. Miriam Hirschfeld is a leader in cross-cultural nursing, human rights and long-term care of patients. She is a coordinator of the Israeli Foundation and has worked with Dr. Wagner, and experts from various countries to research ethical issues related to people with amnesia with the International Nursing Council in issuing important policies in Resolution 45.5 on strengthening the nursing and midwifery profession.

Professor Dr. Wagner  and Professor Dr. Hirschfeld have been working together for more than 50 years until now to protect human rights to ensure justice for the weak in society and their access to universal health coverage according to basic human rights and coordinate cooperation in promoting ethics, knowledge, and mutual understanding of Israeli and Palestinian nurses.
