During 25-28 June 2024, Hon. General Boonsrang Niumpradit, Senator and President of the Thailand-Timor-Leste Parliamentarians Friendship Group, along with members of the Friendship Group visited Timor-Leste to strengthen legislative relations between the two countries.  

During the visit, the President and members of the Friendship Group paid courtesy calls on and exchanged views with the Timorese leaders and high-ranking officials, including H.E. José Ramos-Horta, President; H.E. Mr. Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister; H.E. Ms. Maria Fernanda Lay, President of the National Parliament; Hon. Mrs. Maria Gorumali Barreto, President of the Timor-Leste-Thailand Parliamentarians Friendship Group; and H.E. Taur Matan Ruak, former President and Prime Minister. H.E. Mr. Atipat Rojanapaibulya, Ambassador of Thailand to Timor-Leste, also hosted a dinner in honor of Hon. General Niumpradit and the Thai delegation at his Residence.

Hon. General Niumpradit has a special and close connection with Timor-Leste with his role as the Commander of the UN Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) from 2000 to 2001.
